Maritime Cyber Risk Management

The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has introduced Maritime Cyber Risk Management, as part of the International Management Safety (IMS) code.

Why?

What do you need to know?

With the increasing advancement in technology, including sophisticated systems which can operate Superyachts and common use of digital devices onboard, there is an existing threat and cyber risk to your network. The impact of these threats can be very harmful and disruptive not only affecting what is personal to you, but also to businesses that may support you. Applying Cyber Risk Management to your Superyacht, will not only ensure you comply with regulation, operate in a safe, secure and resilient manner, but it is a sensible approach.

What do I need to do?

If your vessel is greater than 500 gross tonnes and used for commercial purposes (i.e chartering), the ISM Code directs that you implement Maritime Cyber Risk Management as part of your Document of Compliance.
